Dam Square

Amsterdam is famous (or rather infamous) for having a rather risqué nightlife. But the city isn’t only about getting freaky. Amsterdam is home to a large number of students and budget backpackers. And these folk come together and bring a truly contagious energy and enthusiasm in the evenings with their group performances. Usually you can find such communal performances at the city’s social epicentre, Dam Square.

Dam Square By Night

I was fortunate enough to capture this image of one such communal performance during our trip to Amsterdam. Although the image was quite colourful with the variety of attire that the performers were wearing, I decided to render the final image in Black & White. This wasn’t to capitalise on the noir hipster look. Rather to highlight that even with a monochrome rendition this image seems to shout vibrancy and colour nonetheless.
